Halong Bay Cruises 2026 — Compare Luxury, Mid-range & Budget

Choosing your cruise

The bay, sailed properly

What separates a good cruise from a memorable one is rarely the list of stops. It is the pacing between them.

A first cruise on Halong Bay usually follows a familiar thread: board around midday, sail out past the karsts, kayak into a lagoon, then watch the sun go down from the deck. Almost every operator offers a version of this, which is why the itineraries look so similar when you compare them side by side.

We build our recommendations with breathing room. Boats that leave harbour promptly rather than late, routes that reach the caves ahead of the crowd, and afternoons left open when the weather or your mood suggests something different.

Limestone karsts rising from calm water in Halong Bay

What a classic cruise includes

These are the experiences most travellers ask us to build around. Your crew adjusts the order on the day so nothing feels rushed.

An overnight sailing through Halong Bay or the quieter waters of Lan Ha Bay
Kayaking through a rock tunnel into an enclosed lagoon no motorboat can reach
A cave you walk through rather than glance at, timed to avoid the midday peak
Sunset from the sundeck, then dinner aboard as the karsts turn to silhouette
Sunrise over still water, with mist sitting low in the channels

How long you need

One night covers the essentials without feeling hurried, and suits most travellers fitting Halong into a wider Vietnam itinerary. Two nights allows a slower rhythm, reaches the outer bays that day boats never see, and gives you a full uninterrupted day on the water.

We will tell you honestly if your dates are too tight for the route you have in mind, including when a day cruise is the sensible answer.

What we tailor for you

Route and trip length, and the balance between famous sights and quiet water
Boat character, from restored timber junks to contemporary steel-hull ships
Cabin category, and whether a private balcony is worth the difference for you
Transfers from Hanoi, private or shared, timed around your flights

Share your dates and the boats you have already read about. We will shape them into one continuous trip with every transfer handled.
